A little more about the company, Playing In Paint, that I mentioned in one of my posts last week….
If you want to perfect your make-up technique, consider taking a class! Playing in Paint’s classes are energetic and non-traditional in the formats we teach. Juggling both hands-on and demo style sessions we foster a creative environment and encourage lots of Q & A so that everyone can learn from one another as well. We hold classes in Downtown Washington, DC and Largo, MD. Soon to expand to other locations nationally. Our public workshops are scheduled quarterly and on special occasions/holidays we may add to our schedule. The next double header will be in Largo, MD focused on foundation. This was requested by many of our students. On March 31st we will host workshops on “Custom Blending Foundation & Highlighting and Contouring.” To register, students must visit us on the web at www.playinginpaint.com and click the workshops tab. For those makeup lovers who choose to become freelance makeup artists, there is a special 7 week curriculum for them. (Makeup Courses tab).
I had an opportunity to meet the owner a few weekends ago. Nice, talented young lady!

DC’s Own Wisdom Speeks and Absolutely Official Music
I recently had an opportunity to sit down with DC’s own Richard Thompson, keyboard player for the talented band Wisdom Speeks and Global Soul (Whop N EM) to discuss his love of creativity, artists, engineering and music in general. During our conversation, I learned that Richard is also a producer with Absolutely Official Music (AOF), along with Tracey Stallings.
Born and raised in NW, Washington D.C, Richard developed a love for music at the early age of 6. He joined his first band at the age of 11. By age 13, he was playing the keyboard with one of the first bands he joined, Blaque Majik. Today, Richard continues to explore his love of music by investing in state-of the art-equipment, producing music for artists and playing the keyboard with his band up and down the east coast. When he’s not performing, mixing or producing, you can find him coaching his son’s basketball team and taking a football game or two on Sundays.
Based on our conversation, I can tell that he’s an engineer by all accounts and after listening to some his music, it’s obvious that he’s a talented keyboard player. When I spoke with him, I asked him to give us some words of wisdom, or words to live by. His words were, “just stay at it, don’t quit and think beyond yourself and your immediate surroundings.” Before we parted ways, I asked Richard what the future holds for Wisdom Speeks and AOF. He replied, “The world.”
I can’t wait to hear more from this talented and ambitions young man!
